The Judson Lumber Company was founded in 1981 with the purchase of The Beach-Chandler Lumber Company in Plain City, Ohio. From its beginnings, the company grew into a trusted supplier of lumber and building materials throughout Central Ohio.

The Judson name is deeply rooted in the lumber industry. For more than six decades, a member of the Blaine family has owned and operated a lumber-related business that has remained a predominant market leader in the region. That continuity of leadership, relationships, and reputation has shaped the company into what it is today.

The Blaine family’s connection to lumber dates back to 1893, when J.C. Blaine traveled into the forests of Eastern Ohio with a team of horses to mill logs into 2x4s for sale at his lumberyard. More than a century later, the fifth generation continues that same work, still selling 2x4s, a product whose demand has never wavered.

While materials and methods have evolved, the fundamentals have remained the same. Wood has withstood competition from alternative materials because it is renewable, clean, and essential. Where plywood once dominated, OSB has become the industry standard due to its cost efficiency and performance.

Judson Blaine, fourth generation, began working in the industry at age 12, learning the business hands-on at his father’s lumberyard. Tyler Blaine, fifth generation, followed the same path, starting in the yard and performing many of the same duties his father did decades earlier. Together, they represent the passing of experience, work ethic, and vision from one generation to the next.
